Born in Istanbul to a family of Turkish Cypriot descent, Alasya was the nephew of Kıbrıslı Mehmed Kamil Pasha, an Ottoman Grand Vizier. He completed his primary education at Beyazıt Primary School and graduated from Robert College in 1959, Alasya began his acting career in 1959 with the MTTB Theatre as an amateur actor. He later worked with several theater groups, including Arena, Gen-Ar, and Ulvi Uraz Theatre. In 1967, he co-founded the Devekuşu Kabare Theatre (Ostrich Cabaret Theatre), which became renowned for its satirical performances.
